SBC Solutions is the trading name of Southern Business Computer Solutions Limited. The company was established in 2000 to meet a growing need for effective and affordable IT services for small businesses. Since our inception we have steadily grown in size, reputation, and expertise and we continue to do so.

Based just to the north east of Southampton we have ready access to the whole of Central Southern England and we have a diverse range of clients from the Professional, Manufacturing, Medical, Building, Marine, and Service industries.

The company is owned and run by two Directors. We do not employ staff directly, but we use a network of proven partner companies to provide assistance and specialist services as required. This way, we can run our business as efficiently as possible and keep our overheads and our customers' costs low, whilst maintaining a high quality of service.

Managing Director: Sheelagh Allan BA MBCS

Sheelagh has been involved with all aspects of IT since the introduction of personal computers into the office environment. She rapidly became involved with IT training and then IT support and management and now has over 20 years experience covering both end user companies and IT equipment manufacturers. She graduated from the Open University with a degree in Mathematics and Computing in 1992, and in 1999 she achieved Master Certified Novell Engineer (MCNE) accreditation. Her specialist areas are Novell and Microsoft servers, networks, and IT consultancy.

Technical Director: Nigel Allan C Eng MRINA

A qualified Naval Architect and Chartered Engineer, Nigel spent 23 years designing warships before joining SBC Solutions as Technical Director in 2003. He has been continuously and actively involved with all aspects of personal computers since their inception and was one of the first people to take Computer Science A Level. He has been closely involved in the introduction and use of the computer in the marine design process and has direct experience of how useful and how detrimental the computer can be. He now uses this experience, together with his general engineering knowledge, for the benefit of SBC Solution's customers in finding the best solution for their business. His specialist areas are personal computers, project management, and programming, and he is an acknowledged expert in CAD, 3D design, graphic design, and marine design.

The SBC Solutions Philosophy

The computer was first used by business as a tool to ease the burden of the processes involved in running a business. The reality is that all too often that the processes within a company are tailored to around the abilities of the computer. This, in many instances, results in the computer being used inappropriately and/or inefficiently which may ultimately affect the productivity and profitability of the business.

At SBC Solutions we recognise that the use of a computer within a business has to be a compromise between the needs and processes of the business and the ability of the computer. To satisfy this compromise, when we are given an instruction for either Supply and Installation, Support and Maintenance, or Consultancy and Project Management and Facilitation, we always adopt the same approach which is to consider the whole issue and not just the hardware and the software.
